And, speaking of photographs, East Sparta's own Joe Crallie is not camera-shy. In fact, the 22-year-old senior at Ohio State University and the son of Joe Crallie and Vickey Johnson of East Sparta is Mr. February in this year's Campus Men® calendar.
Photographed on a tugboat anchored at Key West and clad only in a silver watch, bead necklace and a well-placed dock line, Crallie shows off a pretty even tan and the benefits of regular workouts. The muscular body is a given since Crallie is majoring in sports and leisure studies and plans to become a personal trainer.
His calendar biography lists his interests as including basketball, tennis, golf, baseball, swimming and repelling. Gee, wonder if the publisher meant to write rappelling?
No matter the semantics. The 1995 Sandy Valley High School graduate was called to appear on The Jenny Jones Show in Chicago Thursday.
A producer there said Joe was one of three men vying for a date with a female bodybuilder.
"There was Joe and another muscley guy like Joe and there was a skinny guy," the producer recalled. "I think Joe had to kind of curl the girl like a weight bar in his arms. The other guy had to bench press her. She ended up picking the skinny guy."
The show tentatively is scheduled to air March 7.
